This is a curated set of fluid flow modes from fluid flow deformation around a single pillar in confined flow at low
Reynolds number (10 ≤ Re ≤ 40, where Re is based on the channel hydraulic diameter). Pillar diameter and location
are normalized to the width of the channel (e.g., a pillar diameter of 0.5 is half the width of the channel). The 3D
fluid flow simulation data came from an experimentally validated finite element library, and deployed across distributed
high performance computers as detailed in this paper.
The fluid flow deformations were simulated using the methods described in this paper.
Instructions
Select a channel Reynolds number (Re) and channel aspect ratio (h/w) using the radio buttons on the upper-right corner
of the page. Move the mouse cursor over tiles in the sheet on the left side of the screen to select a pillar's diameter
and location. Clicking on a tile will freeze that selection in the fluid flow deformation, vorticity, and pillar vizualization
figures on the right side of the page. Clicking again on the tile sheet will unfreeze the selection.
